I booked my mom a service for a silk press extreme and a trim on Saturday later afternoon…12 hours later my mom’s hair was frizzy and reverted like crazy.(Think Don King). I immediately emailed them that Sunday morning and explained what happened. Knowing they are closed Sundays and Mondays ( as most salons are)..I expected to hear something that Tue, but heard nothing! I reached out again on Thursday and finally received a response that explained to me “they aren’t opened Sundays so they didnt see my email”..and that “my mom being elder makes her have night sweats..and its hot outside and shes natural and her hair has to be trained”.. I knew then that I was dealing with a lack of accountability and professionalism!
I explained to Que, who is the owner, during the appointment, while my mom was in her chair, that my mom was starting chemo soon, so I wanted her to experience salon straightening before that happens! This was anything but! My mom threw on a wig for church that morning and I had to fix it myself. ..this is when I noticed she has split ends still left all throughout at the crown and various sections, so the extra $25 i paid a trim for, was basically just a straight across trim! I straightened her hair with my babyliss pro myself, and its still straight 4 days later! I’ve used it on her before, it didn’t revert in 12 hours. My mom’s hair also had no body or movement in it!
Another employee reached out to me and was apologetic..she informed me they dont use babyliss because it ruins the natural curl pattern (referencing my email when i mentioned my mother does get her hair straightened and it doesn’t revert with it). My stylist from my hometown also used it on me for years and my pattern is just fine, but I digress!..She asked me what she can do to make it right. I said a small discount or doing it over is fine! She checked her schedule and informed me she was booked for the weekend. My mom starts her treatment on Tuesday unfortunately, so she said she would do a discount and would talk to the owner (Que) to see how much.. and that she would get back to me that day..I didn’t hear back from her, so I texted her the next day towards end of day! She let me know that the owner said my mom “already received a senior discount” since she was charged the senior price. Appalled isn’t enough to explain how crazy that logic and response is. That is the senior price posted on the website for the service…that is not a “discount” you fall back on for terrible service. My daughter came here before and I booked another stylist who apparently quit the day before..so Que did her hair then, and though her silk press looked more blow dried than when she’s had it professionally done before, I was ok with it because shes still elementary age!
Needless to say offering a $20 discount for simple good will and customer service would have been a good gesture, based on principles..her lack of empathy and sympathy cost her a returning client, because my daughter will not be going back and we will be traveling to San Tan Valley where its a 20 minutes longer drive for us, but atleast the silkpress looks like silk and actual customer service exist. Remember, God don’t like ugly..be careful how you treat people and do right by the clients you are supposed to provide a service to. I will simply treat the $94 I paid as a donation.

I have now been to this salon more than 3 times and I love it the vibe the atmosphere is great everyone is so nice and professional. They also offer so many services for such a great price, you can literally get everything you need in one spot. I always book my silk press with Que she is amazing, also check out Tenika for body sculpting after one session I seen results.
I’m so happy to have found a trusted and reliable salon. Everyone was welcoming.
My son was recently rescued by Silk Press Xpress (SPX) after being canceled last minute by another braider in Maricopa. My 13. year old son noticeably upset after, he was looking to get two strand twists in his hair by a professional for the first time. I had recently discovered SPX myself and checked the GPS to see how far we were from our canceled appointment just a 7 minute drive. We arrived at SPX as walk ins and were able to get into a stylist’s chair right away (we will be booking appointments in the future to guarantee a seat in a stylist’s chair).
The stylist started on my son, and I noticed another stylist finishing with her client. I asked if I could be squeezed into her schedule, and she accommodated me.
I received a wash, blow dry, and sew-in bundles purchased from the salon vending machine onsite.
My son received two-strand twists, which he was smiling ear to ear about, saying he liked them.
AMAZING 😍 I went in for a cut and eyebrow wax and I’ve never had people work so fast but so gently and have great conversations that didn’t feel like forced small talk, I LOVE how my hair and eyebrows turned out I’ll definitely be going back! Maybe even more than once a year like I normally do, the ladies are absolutely wonderful 😊
Que was amazing! She did my daughter’s first silk press. It was her first salon visit ever.
When booking the appointment I left a note for Que to tell her about my daughter being tender- headed and this being her first time. Upon arrival, the first thing she did was confirmed who I was and said ” alright, I read your note!” And smiled. that meant so much to me!
The entire So experience was so pleasant everyone in their smiled and talked and complemented each other.
I HIGHLY recommend going here for all of your needs, especially if you want to be in an environment that makes you feel good and being around amazing stylists!
